Natural Skin Care Benefits

When it comes to treating anything in the body, doing it naturally is always the best way.  The less chemicals one puts into their body the better off the body is.  Skin problems, just like every other problem in the body, may at times require chemical treatments.  When chemicals are not the only form of treatment  however, knowing what natural treatments are available is a good idea.

Removing the dead skin cells on the skin is very important.  There are chemicals which can help with this but it can also be done simply with a brush that you may have in your home.  This is better for the skin.  Chemicals can tend to cause more problems in the long run.  Removing the dead skin cells naturally is called a dry skin exfoliation.  This is done with a soft bristle brush.  Before showering, the skin should be slowly massaged with the brush.  It should be done all over the face as well as the throat and the neck.  When in the shower, the dead skin cells which remain will fall off.  This is much healthier than chemical exfoliation products which can leave the chemicals behind on the skin.

Certain diet changes are a natural way to keep the skin healthy.  By cutting back on your sugar intake, you can help prevent advanced glycation end-products (AGE) from forming.  When there is too much sugar in the blood stream, the sugar molecules stick to the protein molecules.  This is how AGE’s are formed.  These molecules can cause problems with the skin and cartilage.  They can also cause a problem with the skin’s elasticity and cause wrinkles.  Rather than use chemicals to prevent wrinkles, keep the skin firm, and keep it looking young and healthy, something as easy as cutting back on one’s sugar intake can work just as well.  It is not necessary for a person to completely cut sugar out of their diet. By cutting one’s sugar intake in half, they will see a difference.  For example, if a person uses two spoons of sugar in their morning coffee, cutting down to one spoonful will make a difference in the skin’s appearance and feel.

Another diet change which one can make to help the skin without using chemicals is to add certain fats to their diet.  There are certain fats which can improve inflammatory conditions such as acne, eczema, and dry skin.  Rather than using acne pads or eczema treatments which both contain harsh chemicals, these fats can help, sometimes enough where no chemicals are needed.  There are fats in walnut oil and flax seed oil which help these conditions.  If you use these oils for the fat, they should not be cooked.  The best way to get these fats is to add them to a balsamic vinaigrette and add to salad.  The fats in cold water fish such as salmon and sardines also contain this necessary fat.  Trying these foods before turning to an abrasive chemical is a good idea.  You can also get the recommended servings of these fats in a nutritional supplement.

Certain changes in one’s activity can also help with the skin.  Activity promotes circulation which is good for the skin.  When a person suffers from poor circulation, it can lead to acne, loss of muscle tone and cellulite.  Instead of using chemicals to cure acne, or lotions to tone the skin and reduce the look of cellulite, one can try to become more active.  It does not take hours in the gym to achieve this.  Doing something as simple as taking the stairs rather than the elevator can make a difference.  Stretching in the morning before work or taking a walk around the block after work will also make a difference.  If it is possible to prevent these conditions and avoid using harsh chemicals on the skin isn’t it worth it?

There are many natural treatments which you should try before turning to chemical treatments.  These treatments can sometimes be more harmful than beneficial.
